Friend and I are trying HC for the first time. We were overly confident with the first character and went to NM level 30 to get smacked in the Den of Evil by an enchanted monster.

Round 2, we're being much more cautious and trying to get our levels up before we push forward.

My question is - what level do you recommend trying to get to before you move into Act 4 NM.

Depends what your playing.

Summoners can go at any level

Melee should be high 40s with a high health pool... something like 700 is fine for act4 nm hc

casters it depends... act 4 has high a lot of fire res so be warry of that. If your playing a sorc have a holy freeze merc who can take a few hits. A blood helm + high def arm + insight polearm will suffice.

You also need to be much more aware of what spawns.. like amp fanat mobs
Sometimes you just need to save and exit and remake for better spawns lol

The area levels are not something that strictly needs to be followed, but you could use them to get a general idea.

Nightmare Mephisto is level 59 and the first area of Act4 is 56. If you get too far outside the level range, you will have a hard time hitting the mobs (if you are melee) and your exp will suffer.

When playing solo, I generally enter NM around 43 then spam Countess runs for awhile. After I build up a nice stockpile of useful runes, I've gotten enough exp that I can move through the rest of NM without worrying about level.

You could argue gear is more important than level here.

I think you want to be around 35-45 depending on your gear.

if you get a few +all skills and max res you more than ready.

Do quest bugged boss runs until you get good gear and level up fast, diablo and baal in each difficulty. Since you are two players, it becomes very easy.

i think it would be safer to get to level 40+
if not at-least 35, this way you have your main skill and have a few stats into it.

I decided that I’d rather be overly safe. I got to level 60 before I left for my 3 day holiday weekend getaway. We’re going to do Act 4 and 5 NM at level 60.

Get to 70+ before we move into hell.

I’m really enjoying HC though, glad I decided to give it a shot because ladder SC was getting dry.

what's your gear like?
