Why do you care what others do? You should play for fun, for your own personal enjoyment. Not to reach the goal line first. There is no goal line. If you measure your success in terms of earning forum gold, you'll never be happy, because there are teams that dedicate the first days and weeks to play 15-20 hour days in professional teams grinding, selling, trading, and then some set up bots... you'll never be able to compete with that. Most of us have normal lives.

I've been preaching this since the first day i was a member here ... Relax .. and enjoy the game. Trade only for a major boost if you feel very stuck or uninspired and want to try a new build. And then never spend a lot, don't make people rich on shit. People should work for their money ... not fool around with games ...

You are actually describing a big problem with botting and all that. First, people are lured and bullied into thinking they have to have enigma and the best gear in order to really play the game, which is false. Then, they start looking up to the people that are first over the "finish line", which is also false as i described. This all leads to a very toxic pattern, where people bully and harass those that play more genuinely and enjoy the game for what it is.

Forum gold can be a great thing, to precisely and correctly measure the value of items, and make for an easier way to trade. The problem comes in when big corporate business comes into the picture - just like everything else in the entire world. It sucks the soul out of everything .. and that's what we good-natured and good-hearted people must fight against, by not falling into that black hole. That means we must not even get near that tempation or event horizon, that's how easy it is and how aware one must be.

Just relax and enjoy the game - that's mantra #1.
#2: Trade small and cleverly.
#3: Give free stuff to newbs when you get on your feet. That's all that's needed to make the game interesting for everyone.

there is no end game or goal no incentive to keep grinding
its probably 20 years of habit that keep me playing it tbh its just muscle memory at this stage
but i wont give up!
for me the best part of a new ladder is the struggle to build a character that can survive in hell and successfully farm (without spending fg)
this normally takes me a week or so to accomplish. and once its ready to farm i pretty much stop playing because i dont actually want to do millions of runs
