Call me crazy; maybe things have changed; but back in my day BIN meant Buy It Now.

Same as you can't bid on items without having fg; you equally cannot BIN a item to stop an auction and stop anyone else from binning said item in an auction without actually buying the item now.

The reason for this is if player 1 says BIN in an auction with no ability to actually buy the item now (or possibly ever) than it denies other people from bidding on the item that ARE able to actually buy the item; or BIN the item.

I always thought that Buy It Now mean that "I have the fg in pocket and due to that, the auction is closed for all bids and nobody else can BIN cuz I've already got the fg"

But it seems kids now adays think BIN means "end of auction" regardless of the players ability to actually pay in order to end the auction?

The whole point of BIN was that you where getting what you wanted; so the item was no longer for sale... but if your just saving a item all day for someone who said BIN but isn't actually buying it off you; than the item should still be up for sale in the auction and available to people who can legitimately BIN the item.

I'm confused why I am talking to some folk now adays mainly from 2021 who feel that BIN means "hey, snub everyone else out of being able to bin or offer in this auction - save this for me" instead of "buy it now" and I had one of those people request I make a topic in discussion about this cuz apparently I have no idea what I'm talking about when I think an auction shouldn't be ended for someone asking to have the item saved at that price, but rather only ended for someone willing to pay to end the auction first, the whole point of BIN is the first person with the fg in your hand; not the first person to agree to maybe one day down the road give you it if they don't change their mind; it had to be NOW or asap to be a BIN.

Well, this is very simple, if someone BIN wihtout fg, just report that post (or not) and ignore that BIN.

Just quote and said something like "invalid BIN since no fg, my bid is X" so is clear that you want to keep with the auction.

Most sellers will keep the auction open and sell it to a new BIN, if any, if the first one doesn't have the fg or to the highest bid if the auctions end, the only difference is that they may try to contact the the one who BIN first to get a bit extra FG but usually no ones waits to much for that.

Yes, it's bad mannered. I would write in a post in the actual thread: "Waiting 1 minute for pm on bin", and if i got no answer, i would edit the message and write "Buyer not showing, offer still open". Or something similar.

^ this. For both the seller and for those who are bidding, Titus1986's suggestion is the clearest response to an invalid bin.

i would give them a few minutes they can always just purchase fg
saved at certain price? forget about that, you are in charge of if or when you sell an item
