First and foremost, do spend a little time exploring the trade sections of d2jsp: https://forums.d2jsp.org/forum.php?f=51
If you wish to focus on finding the most sought after and expensive items, take a few days to explore the trophy room section. Yet, don't be fooled by the items which were imported, as in not found in game but are hacked items.

You may or may not trade well in the beginning and yet that is the fun part about learning. We stumble we learn. Most important advice... Have fun no matter what.

another quick question tho. if im making a sale. do i give the item first? or after receiving fg first?

A number of older players prefer item first and they pay right after.
If it is not an expensive item and they won the bid, they usually send the fg as you are in a trade window, sometimes before. Make sure to ask for their jsp name in game so that you are not being preyed upon by someone.
