the playstyle should be something where you're moving to avoid being hit while placing traps in useful places. fireblast is powerful vs light immunes (it's not unheard of to break 5k damage with more basic gear - keep in mind that fire facets are very effective with this skill). if you have 5 light traps down vs fire immunes and they aren't killing fast enough, throw some shock webs to help it along. you can use death sentry as a nuke button when corpses are around, too (more effective in low player count games).
when there are lots of projectiles being cast or other nasty monsters, use cloak of shadows. you can cast it multiple times in succession if you make your shadow warrior cast it by having the skill equipped and waiting for her to use it while yours is on cooldown. your 1 point to mindblast will also save your bacon, but you'll really only need it vs wave 5 of baal (they cannot be blinded or converted but can be stunned). these skills are excellent at saving not only yourself but your mercenary as well.
since you're wep/shield, plan on using burst of speed. that doesn't mean fade won't have it's uses, though (particularly against conviction elites/lower res if necessary). that said, you can get an extra skill point to your damage skills if you skip fade and cast it off a claw or something
also fyi: i've got similar gear on mine, though my combined claws give +6 to sentry - that's +3 each hand - and one of them has two fire facets. with cta, 9x trap gc + torch & anni, and lvl 94 i'm at 10.3k sentry / 7.2k fireblast.
you won't need fireblast that high when you have enigma + infinity, so that will let you max mindblast instead to enjoy some pvp if you wish.
hope that helps your experience. assassin is pretty easy to clear the whole game with even using low gear. if you really want to excel at using the class, i would practice c/t casting. also, if it's d2r then you should also play windowed mode with 21:9 aspect ratio if your monitor isn't ultrawide
Heya, thank you for the tips, I changed my playstyle to use shock web and mind blast a lot more and it was much easier to kill stuff. It was a bit more micro intensive than I expected though, but definitely made the game much easier to play.
