Sacred Targe @36 ar (140 def)
Kurast Shield @44 ar (154 def)
Crown Shield @45 ar (41 def)

I know Sacred Targe is the most desirable due to highest block chance but has a bit less AR, kurast is only 5% less block at nearly perfect ar and crown shield is perfect ar also 55% block but normal quality so much less defense.

So the defense isn't that important even with Holy Shield? Ironically currently using the crown shield since it had lower reqs. I feel like the Sacred Targe increased block is more valuable than the extra ar on the Kurast Shield is that why?

The AR is usually the most important stat, followed by the block.
Defense doesn’t really do anything. It’s a lesser concern in both pvm and pvp.

I’m saying use the crown since the AR is perfect and upgrade later when you find a 45 AR ST

Sacred targe can also spawn with 45 AR. You should be looking for one of those sooner or later. Out of the 3 options you presented crown is ideal.

Yeah definitely been looking for ST with 45 ar, 36 the best I found so far, I'll stick with the crown shield until then thanks!

No. He means all resist, not attack rating.
If I let you be cheeky you’ll make a new rule that 49 paladins are only allowed to use 38 res shields.

at no time in d2 history was ar anything other then ar (attack rating)
i thought max ar was 121~122 in a paladin shield ?
