I am on an old macbook so I can't run and windows programs or anything. Porting kit and plugy don't seem to be working too well so I can't get a shared stash. Any other options? Could someone host a game in open and I just go in and out with my single player characters?

On the main page, click:
1. Join other multiplayer
2. TCP/IP
3: Join game
4 write in d2ga.net
5. Choose your character
6. drop items somewhere and come back

Once you xfer in single player it is no longer single player.

Eh. I've played enough of your version of single player for the last 16 years. I've got less time for grinding out dumb shit like nef runes these days.

2. Get a PC with Windows
3. Install D2R
4. Play another shitty steam game because D2R is boring af without pvp
