Now that most of the playerbase has moved to d2r, do we think these items will ever regain value or are they just trending down forever?

IMO

Since these items can't naturally drop in-game, they will remain fairly stable. They will reduce a little further in price though before settling, and potentially increase again a little.

Items which do drop, will plummet until a point where people would rather Charsi then sell, and then increase again a little.

Not going to explain why I think this is the case.

D2R playerbase will massively decrease within 6 months. Most players are new to D2 or are players who have returned due to nostalgia, 80% of them will be gone come summer. (Probably a long time before. January-February.) Out of the remaining 20%, 25% will return to D2. Splitting the playerbase 35-40:65-60, which is bad for both D2 and D2R.

At the moment, prices of non GZ items, such as perfect uniques are higher on EU non-ladder than ladder now. Non-ladder will get a reality check within a year.

That's my prediction anyways.

Player base is high now because of:

1) D2R - Hype will die down. Already begun.
2) Corona - Most regulations were removed where I am, hopefully all will be gone within 2022. That said, regulations were just increase a little again here, but hopefully just a temporary thing.

I guess I did not answer OP's question directly:

No, I don't think these items will ever regain their values prior to D2R announcement, but I do not think they will plummet forever.

Would like to hear more opinions on this, along with what I wrote above.

Yeah, guess I will only get one word answers! Serves me well as that is what I have been doing in D2:R Discussion.

Well, it seems like a lot of people kept their old d2 accounts-in case they ever wanted to come back to d2. I just don't think many actually WILL come back though.
So without many buyers, I think they will trend down...
