Weapons have different Weapon Speed Modifiers (WSM) depending on the base. You can find everything you need to know here. Some weapons are slower, some a faster. Essentially you're reaching for 9 frames for trap laying.

First calculate the Weapon Speed Modifier (WSM) of your bases. You take the main hand claw with the sum/difference of the off hand claw. In your case, Wrist Spike has 0, Hand Sycthe has -10. Then divide the total sum by 2. See 1.3 in the site.

(0 - 10)/2 = -5 as your final WSM total.

Then go to 2.0 on the site for trap laying, and find the IAS you need. In your case with -5 WSM total, you will need 105 IAS on your gear to reach the max trap laying speed. Burst of Speed levels will lower this (check your current skill and use the tabl to determine how much less IAS you need). Off Hand IAS Modifiers (boot side) does not count towards your total IAS, so make sure your main claw on the glove side (and your other gear for that matter) is the one with all the good IAS stats. Also, not sure if Weapon Speed Bugging works in D2R. I just skip that anyway cause it's too annoying to do.

TL;DR: find two Greater Talons or Runic Talons as your claw bases, and make sure you have 42+ IAS from your main hand claw/other gear.

Man! I appreciate you taking the time.

This is for a LLDER so it's going to be a while until I find the perfect claws.

However working with what I have... being -5 wsm..

So I need 105%ias

So if bos gives 39ias

I need 66% more Ias from gear in order to obtain 9frames?

I'm not entirely sure if the IAS from Burst of Speed works exactly like that. Under trap laying in the 2.0 table, it actually gives you the Burst of Speed skill level (BoS) and how much final IAS you need with your gear to reach the 9 frames. For example, with -5 WSM (your current claws), and a level 5 Burst of Speed skill level, your final IAS to reach the 9 frames is down to 23 IAS from the original 105.

You would need a level 9 Burst of Speed to get it down to 14 IAS, so that if you have 0 gear with IAS, you can just slap a 15 ias/stat jewel on whatever to reach 9 frames with a 9+ Burst of Speed activated.

If you get frozen or slowed by items like Arach or Clay Golem or whatever, that changes things too. But I'm not a Sin expert, so you'd have to refer to the site or ask elsewhere with that.

Okay cool I was having a hard time reading that 2.0 chart.

My bos is lvl 6... so it looks like I only need 20ias from other gear to reach 9 frames with my -5wsm set up.

I've read that increase IAS on offhand doesn't count?

That is my understanding, with BoS at 6 you need 20 IAS to reach max frames. That's a pretty good level, since item increase attack Modifiers are usually 10-20 for easier to find gear. Otherwise a single Shael Rune on the main hand weapon should work.

And you are correct, Offhand Claws IAS does not count. So when you see people mention offhand claws, it's purely for skills only/space for other stat jewels.

so i think this is flawed..

i use a Battle Cestus (-10) and Feral (-20) which makes my weapons -15
according to the graph i need 75ias to gain max trap laying speed

my Battle cestus has 40ias, my Feral 20ias and a 15ias jewel in my helm makes 75. i noticed my trap lay speed isnt max.. so when i replace my 15ias helm with my merc 35ias helm - i do get maximum trap lay speed.

ias only counts from primary claw and armour, not the other claw
bos doesn’t give flat ias

Bos and fanata ias are effective ias(eias) and adds more speed than weapon/jewel ias so they seeming add way more than it appears.

Correct, and the table I linked here (and above)

https://www.purediablo.com/forums/threads/assassin-ias-tables.1087/

also has a chart for IAS claw breakpoints with Burst of Speed skill level factored in. With Fanaticism and Burst of Speed though, I don't have numbers for.
