So I made a character, a paladin, 4 days ago. Have been playing every day since but today my computer crashed. When I opened d2 again, the character was gone. I think I haven't exited my computer since I created the char, just sleepmode or so.

Another weird thing is that when I got -direct -txt in shortcut my characters look like this:



When I remove it and only got -w it look like this:



Is it because of items existing in non-ladder/ladder?

Well I have got my paladin's saved file in user/saved files/diablo 2.. but it seems it doesnt load.

What should I do?

Could I copy all paladin files to another directory, then create a paladin with the same name. Then exit d2 and copy the files into the saved folder?

Also I cant create a char with name Daddy when the files are in the save directory, but still no char...

Have you played it on plugy and trying to load on non plugy? Characters are saved under "user/saved games" but in plugys case in the d2se/core/patch/save

Nope. The weird thing is that the char files are saved like 5 mins before the crash came, but still the paladin is nowhere

One of my laptops saves chars to different directories depending on whether I'm running it fullscreen or windowed

Got no other directory.

All my chars are saved in saved games\diablo 2. This file with my paladin was updated right before the crash it seems by the timestamps. When I open d2 - he doesnt exit in the char selection menu.. If I try to create a char with the same name, it's already taken.
If I delete all of his saved files I can create the char with the same name. If I copy paste all the old files it's the same as the first scenario.. He doesnt show in the char selection.

Maybe the only option is to do a system recovery from a day or two ago?

PC Crashed + System Recovery Enabled = Roll Back Your system keeps a backup every so many days. Corrupting the Data is what happen

I've tried system recovery from 2 different nearby days but doesnt work lol.. sucky

Open the old file in Hero Editor, u can try re-saving it or duplicate it / make new with same stuff on it.
