I remember that from d1. It was so cool. First time you got it was the griswold quest. The faster (i think it was) attack speed, combined with the fire damage, which gave another hit recovery lock on the enemy, made you almost invincible in 1v1. I still remember though those knights (don't remember the name), they dealt insane damage when first meeting them ^^ Tough times. Also those "advocate" mages, damn, those fireballs. Diablo too, the apocalypse attack, took like 60% of the hit points in one damn attack.
I actually never thought about finishing the game many times, i thought when i beat it once, there was not point in playing on .. maaany years later i read about all those uniques, i never saw most of them. I was well into d2 by then so i never went back.
But d1 was a true classic game. I remember being horrified of farnham the drunk having a nervous breakdown when talking about the butcher ^^ The butcher chopped me down too first encounter ^^ It was kind of scary, i was mortified ^^ Then i think there was a weird glitch where you hit him through the door or something... i think i figured that out. I used his cleaver for a while, but rather preferred a shield and 1-hand weapon.
The graphics were incredible for the time. When d2 came, it was the ultimate roleplaying game. And to me, still is.
