I’m looking to make a lighting Sorc for PVE. Im sick of nova, so making a lighting! What are the best builds I can use, gear wise? FG isn’t an issue, just looking to clear things fast. Chain or lighting for my main skill? Any guides out there?

Griffon's is a sure thing.

Spirit sword is okay, eschuta's temper is better.

You can use enigma, or eup voper, it's your choice...

Amulet, i'd say a crazy nice crafted 20% fcr 2 skill one is a nice choice. Only the price.....

Can't go wrong with magefist. Though crafted gloves can be good too.

May make more suggestions later on...

I meant eup (ethereal upgraded, for those that dunno) viper of course.

The soj rings are good, but kind of a clichè. I like the good rare or crafted rings personally. 10% fcr with some meaty stats.

I mean fcr wise, you get potentially

Griffon 20%
Spirit 25-35%
/ Escutas 40%
Spirit shield 25-35%
Viper 30%
/ Enigma 0% but great frw which can help somewhat
Amulet 10-20%
Rings 10-20% (20% both)

So with this, that's a minimum of 130, and maximum of 200. That's enough to serve most fcr needs...

That leads me to the belt. There is arachnid mesh, for another 20% fcr if you need it. But you know, choosing a good defensive belt is not a bad option... the string of ears is a very good defensive option. You can choose any defensive belt. Like thundergod's vigor if venturing into strong lightning monster areas...

But as to the point of hardcore, no matter how expensive gear you buy, if you play recklessly, you will die sooner or later anyway. So there is a point of caution always. But this kind of gear will make you quite strong. You cannot simply tank everything as a sorc anyway. But the lightning will deal sick damage and break through most things.

The merc... well, infinity is an obvious choice, personally i don't like it so much. The aura takes 0.5 seconds to take effect, after a teleport, that's very annoying. Sometimes more too. The merc has to be in the area of monstes to make it work. Self-wielding, i've tried that as a nova+lightning sorc, it works very well. You cannot get 200% fcr though, but you are going lightning, so only for the teleport, not absolutely necessary.

Actually, reaper is a good choice, slow enemies down a bit, and deal with lightning immunes, AND provide protection from ambushes. Still, there is also insight+prayer, gives insane regen, never have to worry about mana running out. That can be a frustration point. Doing pots all the time is amateurish.

There are many choices to consider. It all depends on your style........

Here is a good start. I would change out the boots and gloves depending on your use case.

i have used light mf sorcs pvm and not much pvp idk if d2 even has pve? but its solid builds and its cheap.

i dont make a light sorc outright but always build a start vita bliz then farm useful items to build other builds. es is just not useful pvm but if you are dueling a noob or poorly geared idiot es elemental builds are useful like es bliz and es lightening and es fb are very tanky pvp but easily killed by even 1 item of sorb so keep it pvm.

another great item to use on a pvm sorc is storm shield because a sorc cant tank much damage and it really allows the build to shine. if you are pure pvm and high mf then use a bo barb so you can tank those random high damage hits. i was doing a chaos run with a mf sorc with high mf while prebuffed with barbs bo and diablo hit me (i was in a full game) in a single hit i lost 3500 hp but i had 700 hp left due to barbs bo and oak. so using prebuffs on gear with no safety items is very useful. also the gear is cheap dont use griffons just use a random shako if its pvm if you choose to hit the lightening fcr bp of 117 then you will lose mf so it will mean lower fcr either 63 or even 105 - not meeting lightening 117 ik ik. if you want to meet 117 fcr then use a caster craft 2/20 amulet and i use these standard across all my builds if i choose to meet the 117 bp or not it just means swapping in magefist vs chance guards.

there is no real set build for this it can be anything you have on hand. keep in mind the more mf you have the slower you will clear monster packs and around 300 mf is a high functional amount. what you can do is go on single player and load up hero editor and load on to the test mf char 300 400 500 600 700 800 2000 100000 mf and see how it changes the game then choose how much mf you want to stack on your bnet char so you already know the expected results. always test ideas on single player so you are not inventing the wheel on bnet.

I like hoto, it has res and 40%fcr which is important to hit the 117 bp and can free up other gear slots for different options.

This looks good to me. Again gloves and boots can be flex depending on your preference.
