The screenshot bellow shows a zombie that randomly allied with my character for no reason (as far as I can tell) story bellow.

So, I was in an 8 player mf game running TZ ancient tunnels when I ran into dark elder in Lost city. I Killed his boss pack and refreshed my bo. But then I noticed something odd. I had given my bo and my auras to a zombie. I couldn't hurt it and it didn't tele around with me. The zombie started walking towards and attacking a fire tower.

I went to town and of course it didn't follow. When I came back it was still attacking the fire tower. The behaviour was similar to a returned from faith bow or tomb reaver. I have never seen anything like this. Also notice this is not a revive. I have no revives in my party and he isn't even the right color.

Has anyone ever experienced something like this? Please let me know if you have details about this behaviour. It's fascinating.

So, I have learned something about this bug and I want to share.

Requirements:

Thanks for sharing. So, I actually learned a little bit about this bug after a few hours. So, it is rare and requires two things:
1.) You are in a party and thus have the party flag set
2.) You or someone in your party has an aura.

Bug Explanation:

When an aura is active it constantly checks every entity in its range to see if it should be applied. This requires sending packets to the server. Normally you would think these packets coulldn't modify monster flags because auras should just check their party and ally flags and apply the aura.
My limited understanding is that a server desynch can cause the packets containing aura application data to arrive at the wrong times and cause the monster's party or ally flags to be permanently changed. Once this occurs they behave like a member of the party.

Just an fyi…you’re posting in the wrong section. There is a difference between D2 and D2R. Maybe eating too much shrimps cloud your mind.

Ok. I'm glad you were civil about it and didn't get personal. Clearly you don't have any issues and everything is going fine for you.

You are correct. Shrimpage should stay awhile and learn.
