I was going to make a WW barb to farm trav but every post I find seems to be beserk . Help me understand why

Whirlwind is Physical Damage to monsters

Berserk is Magical Damage to monsters


People go for berserk maybe because of Imune to Physical attack monster minions? Or Iron maiden curse, or Thorns aura, Are in Travincal probably?
Didnt play the pvm game for years now...
But thats probably the reason of berserk = magic damage

Anyway, Whirlwind on PvM? Its super shitty slow attack and boring.

Get 2x Grief Phase Blade or 2x EDeath Baxes
And go Frenzy barbarian and you will see what is barbarian vs monsters and super fast killing and running.
Frenzy is the only PvM barbarian out there that is worth to play

after that only PvP BvB dueling

for pvm get other character than barb for sure, sorceress, nec, hammer...

Somewhere between 1.11 and 1.14 they removed Iron Maiden from PvM

But berserk is still strong for Magic find

Tho I agree Frenzy is funny

for pvm i have full ww setup with dual pb griefs 400 damage and this is after i turn 99 if i am not 99 ill use grief storm shield bered. i very quickly turn 99 and lose the ss. what you do is add a point into zerk so if you do have a physically immune monster its a backup magic based skill. zerk is terrible pvm because you lose all your defense. zerk vs a caster is great because spells dont care about defense in pvp and it can have massive damage just at a cost.


dont use a barb for gold find in trav. yes it does work to harvest gold and what items are in that limited treasure class of that area but its slow. if you have a mf light sorc or hdin and just gamble extra gold from items you will gamble with trillions of times more gold then a gold find barb and work in tc 85 areas. tldr you are wasting your time with a pvm barb. barbs are good for pk and support aka a bo barb. pvm its slow even with high end gear. if actually used pvm its expensive and more of a flex that you can afford the gear yet kill slower then a mf sorc without infinity while having dual grief.

My old frenzy barb did ubers almost as fast as any toon. A decent frenzy barb is cheap and fun to build. Fun to play too. Get fully frenzied and walk faster than most toons run on speed.

Zerk cause u can offhand a 6lem sword for more gold find

Reasons why I chose to build a Berserk Barb 19 years ago.

More damage than other skills
All % physical damage is converted to Magical damage and ignores monsters physical defense.
Thorns from monsters & Iron Maiden in Chaos and Worldstone / Throne
Can hunt for Keys easily.
Howl is a godsend for faster Chaos runs (pop seals, howl to clear mobs then berserk to kill seal boss)
Killing main bosses just as fast, if not faster than a Hammerdin and main builds.
Great support character in group runs... who doesn't like a BO Barb.
Tanks like a BO Barb and kills like like a Javazon
Support for Level up runs.
Aids in Rush Games

Depends on how the player wants to build the character... Gear swap if need be and no need to respec. Trav runs can be done with all characters.

you play frenzy barb, but you max berzerk because its synergy to frenzy

1 pt frenzy
20 pts berzerk
20 pts increased stamina
20 pts mastery of your choice
enough bo for 2-3 minutes of length
1 pt increased speed
1 pt increased resists
rest whirlwind
rest bo

you frenzy just 1-2 hits to gain speed and then ww
and if immune to physical you frenzy

thats how i played ... worked wonders

I used swords mastery maxed with a warpike on switch for range 5 and would ww with the pike and frenzy with dual phaseblades with amp 40/15'd for more speed instead of Lo'd

Was super fast, even when chilled and decrepified

you should go axe mastery and use 2x lacerators on one side for frenzy, and an eth death decapitator on switch for ww
