Is there something going on that I do not know about? I just found two monarchs in hell. One in the PITS TZ and one in Chaos TZ, both only received 3 sockets from larzurk. Can someone please explain to me, how this is happening?

Only possible explanation is that your 'monarchs' were either a kite or a dragon shield. Monarch has around 140 def and requires 156 str. Kite and dragon shields are lighter and lower level types of a triangular shaped shield. Or did you maybe use a cube recipe to upgrade a cracked/low quality monarch?

I literally just found them and then went to socket them and that happened to both. back to back today. I didn't repair, cube, change, do anything to them. I didn't even notice in the first one, i started to add the runes and noticed 3 sockets. Either I am losing my mind, or something isn't right?

I'm out of ideas

They were either cracked, or inferior in some way.

I swear to you, I literally found them and socketed them. I did not do anything to them. The text didn't read damaged just, "Monarch". The only thing was the durability is 80 of 86 on one and 45 of 86 on the other.

even low quality items get max sockets, obviously as long as you don't cube repair them

Monarch should only get 3 sox from Larzuk if it's item level is below 41, which seems impossible in hell unless you cube a cracked one. Got any screen shots?
