If they just did that say, once a year since the game's release, it would be a cleaner and better environment. And we wouldn't need no d2r, since there would be much more genuine players.

bots would just mule more frequently to manually controlled accounts. i am surprised they dont do a purge every few years, long enough to make mass botting worth it but you get those cdkey sales again. blizz cant even be greedy intelligently

i think the number of people that would play d2 online, but dont bc of bots is actually very low. most people dont play bc outdated interface (loot filter/muling/etc) and simple gameplay loop lategame. also its been out for over 20 years, they played it a lot 10 years ago and do other stuff now. its not like blizz really does anything to bring in new players either

Banwaves kills the population off massively and creates a sellers only market since no1 except botters will spend 10k fg for an enigma on a 4 year old game,

but true, only the people with morals survive until the next round of public bots come out a month later
