Yes that's why they're afraid of giving a legitimate reason for not allowing grief in click and hold. They'd rather waste thousands of dollars on shitheaded niche items for an wholely skill lacking game play.

It depends on what the rules it is for that tournament.

I never understood this reasoning of banning items or saying it is BM using items that are available? Isn't is just "skill" or "hand/eye co-ordination" of a person that wins a duel?

Hey ... maybe they should just have Bow user duals, can not teleport because that is magic, oh wait... to simplify it better, how about a Berserk barb vs ONLY a Berserk barb... they use every item they have and just go at it... hit for hit... no enigma or any teleport items and just blow for blow... the one that dies first is the loser... simple.

Oh... yup, done something similar... Berserk barb vs Conc Barb hit for hit and last one standing wins... well the berserk barb won... not by much either.

easy to be explained: PvP never was an important asset of the game from the developer's point of view, just an added feature. thats why they never cared to balance builds for the purpose of PvP. note that this is most likely a conscious decision, as Blizzard has proven to be able to do proper balancing (see WC3 and SCBW/SC2, where the balancing is straight from the top level).
because of that missing hard-coded balance, players have worked on rulesets to establish balanced PvP by themselves: if an item or skill or uncapped stat gives you an advantage that is extremly hard to overcome, it gets nerfed, so a multitude of builds and gear sets is viable

Read the rules whatever you start competiting

The ban of runeword prevent your little cousin to be on spar with you when someone free his forti grief to him. Too easy to get for a pvp scene.

Actually i think rare items should be the best items available but the need to get the game more casual and attractive killed it.

IMO That's why classic to somes older users is considered more fun and the golden age when it was 1.06-1.09
