D2L. First time getting to diablo in hell, he cast bone prison on me immediately, lol, i had to save and exit, and i think, for the first time in many many years, the game actually dropped. Strange.

I was worried on how to deal with bone prison. But i remembered from doing nightmare baalruns, keeping him occupied with re-casting shadow master. So i did, and it works. It dies fast when diablo casts firestorm, but otherwise survives long enough to switch, cast lower resist from wand, switch, cast traps and move around if necessary.

1) Why do diablo keep focusing on shadow master?

2) How much hit points does the bone prison he casts have?

I dno if there is anything special with diablo or sm, but when summoning a dude on top of a boss or monster they will agro the summon.

I guess u can dtalon or dtail the prison.

Prison shouldnt take much to break honestly. Kick it or use dragon flight on diablo or tele staff to get out and just reposition real quick. Set up traps and bait him to come to them, youll have time to cast lower res. Overall though dont rely on summons to distract or tank diablo for too long, unless youre actually end game full build. He rips through them all super fast so dont put too much thought in to it.

Lay traps and run around until he dies

Does that go for any summon, clay golem, valk? I've probably done 1000+ diabloruns with bowa but don't remember if dia aggros the valk as strongly as the shadow master.

Luckily the shadow master technique has held up, done about 10-15 runs now and it works every time. Diablo gets stuck attacking it. Physical attacks it can tank about 5-6 hits, level 28 shadow master, the minimum range of the lightning hose deals no damage, only thing kills it if it has below 80% hit points is the firestorm.

Yes .. the switch+cast lower resist from wand speeds it up a lot, diablo takes good damage from the death traps.

This is just an Idea... don't rely on Shadow Master, it is a joke, and has been ever since Assassin was created to use in D2. Shadow Warrior YOU can control what skills they use and is a better option... hey, don't believe me, but test it out for yourself.

I personally think both are sadly useless, the only reason i use sm is an extra tank in hardcore. And it is quite tanky. Nothing it does does much damage to monsters.

SW i get the control of the skills, but on left click i keep normal attack for better control, i don't use it for any attack. This means 70% of the time, the sw will just normal attack the enemies, very slowly, amounting to zero contribution. Death traps i cast 5 of in 2 seconds and i want control of where they are placed. The sw just messes it up. I don't see much point in using it.

In early hell, and through nightmare, a high level sw does contribute to killing things. But not in chaos runs as i do now. Only thing is occupying diablo, just did three runs and it works.

Hey bud, long time no see. :D

I get it, personal preference based on strategy of playing. Just a note, in 1.09 the Assassin skill Dragon Flight was dominant against GA bowazon PvP (no one used it), however, it got nerfed if I recall ... but worked well in PvM.

Not sure which patch or D2 you are playing right now (D2r vs LoD), so, since I am playing SP D2SE ... I can play your setup and build if you want to share it here... thanks.
