This concerns Diablo 2 LOD (Legacy), not D2R.

If I login to a mule account that has broken Blizzard rules is there a risk of me getting tagged and banned in the future?

I can't recall this ever being an issue and my friends say it's not, but I'd like some more opinions.

As far as I am aware, bots don't get banned at all.

However just because no one has been banned for this does not mean you are not tagged.

Unreasonably paranoid?

Blizzard can flag accounts as well as IPs, and if you mix them you can spread the infestation (flagged account on another IP: flag the new IP as well and vice versa)

Exactly my fear.

How about droppers? Has there been any history of people getting tagged and banned for that? I assume not. Deniability and whatnot.

I just happened to stand next to the stash in my passworded game and suddenly 100 characters joined and dropped items. - Everyone

I think flagged forever

I remember a banwave in like 2018 on d2lod that banned all the accounts of people that had people use a leveling service to level their characters. Even tho the individuals themselves didnt use hax, they still got banned months/years later

Ofc they can ban you.

Banweave 2017 and 2018 ..many accounts and users r.i.p
It was last time i saw they were running something like that

BUT ^^

After that, blizzard stoped to care about D2lod game completely. And from 2021 D2r release its definitely..

Its so oldbug game that to all the bugs the game got through 24 years, in last years (after 2021d2r) there were happened even new bugs like ingame Chat Bug and many others that arent and probably will not be repaired ^^ new and new can come and the Life of this oldbug game depends just only blizzard how long they will run the original Servers Battlenet d2lod and when they Stop it, the game become simple Singleplayer with Lan/Open bnet online play only. Will become oldiee like D1.

Thanks for further confirmation that cross-contamination is a thing.

So if I login to an account that has botted then my IP and/or CD key gets tagged, once I login to my account (legitimate) it gets tagged as well. Correct me if I am wrong.

As for the state of the game, sure, the game may be old, but the game was already old 15 years ago.

How about droppers? Any risk involved?

Droppers work the same. If they get a ban and you login manually with the same ip/cd key they used or account then it can flag.

Collecting items from droppers in game won’t have any affect
