i have never tried doing that, i checked the wiki and it says it has a max of 5 sockets so its possible.

if the item is a bow + 4 sockets on ladder then you can make faith. i just have no idea why you would want to make faith in a low damage base item like that instead of a higher damage diamond bow, gmb, shadow bow ect ect base.

want to make a troll bow to make it harder for myself

bowzons are already pretty bad pvm even with correct gear and tons of funding to pull it off.

use hero editor try it on single player before trying it online
