I like to use grand matron, because then you can deal adequate physical damage with strafe+atma's scarab and merc, to deal with cold immunes better. Matriarchal shoots faster, but there is a point where there is pointless to shoot so fast, because you don't save much time, freezing arrow deals pretty good damage as it does. So even if you shoot a little bit slower with gmb, you deal quite good enough cold damage, and still get 25% better physical damage, which i find just exactly the amount needed to be that much more efficient. It also becomes easier to control mana flow, you play more efficiently, since you now shoot freezing arrow slower, you become more wary of liningup/herding monsters, which is kind of the style you should be playing anyway. Single monsters it is almost better to use strafe/physical as to not waste mana and rather leech mana if that is possible, not undead etc. I personally like to use prayer/insight merc to get that huge mana and mid hp regen boost, and aim for 350+ mana. FA uses what, 25 mana each shot, so it drains fast.
