So... with that guys logic, the game would be better if we all had access to acquirable common items that had 5000 damage, 25000 armor, 1000 Fcr, Etc... basically stupidly-overpowered items.
That is some horrible failed logic and anyone who agrees has horribly failed logic too.
The truth is, items, In-Comparison, that are weaker in general leave more room for skill, and less room for wealth-domination. Therefor, it's logically accurate that classic requires more skill and less wealth.

Stop Here if you're just going to TL;DR_______
An example of this? You can gear up a decent character on classic for 200 fg and compete with players that spend 5k [and some people that even spend upwards and beyond 20k] on their characters as long as you've got the skill to win. Vs expansion, where no 200 fg character can even remotely touch any expensive character [5k-20k+] because it's simply a different and higher class of items at that level such as 08 Valks, Witchhunter & 3/3 GT's, P Coa, 3/20/20 scs, Perfect Torches & Annis, 45 Life Pcombs, Perf Upped Eth HoZ, and the list goes on.
So, if you prefer to win with skill instead of money and or gear collection, you'll prefer classic.
