afaik back then the Zod rune had a different effect: nowadays it adds the 'indestructible' mod which gets deleted again when the Zod is removed. earlier the Zod rune just deleted the durability property of the item, this property however was not restored when the Zod was removed. so you couls just put a Zod in, remove it and voila
