p8 hell cs with light sorc + charm will now melt immunes more than it did before.
fire druid/blizz sorc/fb sorc/ fire zon / cold zon will now melt immunes instead of a) letting the phys part of arma/volcano/boulder do it, b ) letting merc do it(who the fuck played blizz mono-ele sorc in cs before? yes that becomes viable now) c) using fo playing dual ele to kill fire immunes d) using multishot/ga e) using multishot/ga
Every non-immune will stay the same.

fire druid and blizz sorc will still have trouble hitting moving monsters, fire and cold zon have bad teleporting and thus are slower in speed => same as before
fb sorc will be definitely way faster, I'll give you that

yes

Light sorc will definitely melt those storm casters faster. Thats 1/3 of chaos but how long did it take really to kill those things with an end game light sorc?
For me, I enjoy the idea of not having to go dual ele - lower damage for two trees - to get around immunities rather than optimizing one skill tree, which currently only the light sorc has that option
I made a fire zon with end game gear, full inventory / high end runewords just to get mediocre fire damage and barely any areas to farm. If im going to invest in ga/ms i might as well go full physical because that would be better than a fire/physical hybrid zon. I LOVE the idea of a fire zon though and so for me personally this is great news.

Zon teleporting is bad, but at least now I can kill mobs with a full cold or full fire or even a cold fire zon. How many have you seen in the past 20 or so years of d2 that didnt immediately respec into physical?

Definitely agree on Fire druid / blizz trouble with hitting multiple monsters

Well, it took a bit to kill those things, now it happens way faster.
Not having to go dual ele is fine. Even though I think it simplifies things a bit too much. There's been resistances in d2 forever, and I don't think that's a bad thing. If you wanna mow down hordes without resistances, d3 might be the thing for you.
I'm not saying this might not also improve on a few other elemental builds...however those are builds that have worked before. How do you invest more than 60 pts into fire skills as a fire zon? Do you max out valkyrie? I play a phys-frost bowie...40 pts in Frost is enough for maximum effectiveness(cold length is not needed) => I have more than enough pts to go physical as well. Given though,I don't need blockers...I kill everything off-screen, so it's 20 FreezingArrow, 20 ColdArrow, 20 GA, some pts into multishot(I usually aim for around 16-20 arrows), rest in pierce(nosferatu for 7fpa faith,so no razor) and critical strike.
I'll give you the fire/cold hybrid, haven't seen that, and it could work now, agreed.

o my. cant wait

Yeah I’m interested in the changes these charms create. I always start as fire/cold sorc so being able to go single element once I get a charm would be a huge change.

Majorly buffs blizzard sorcs and poison necros. Blizz sorc already got a buff if you count being able to spam orb and blizzard without the cooldowns interrupting one another but now there is a reason to max cold mastery.

Minor buff to elemental classes.

Semi buff to lightning builds for the occasional unbreakable light immhne, now light builds will just stomp everything.

Makes fire builds somewhat competitive with infinity but still strictly worse than moat elemental builds.

Melee and physical damage characters get the shaft as usual. Same with summoner builds.

Actually nerfs bone necs and hammerdins because you cant stack magic resistance aka the only item in the game with it is safety shield.

Its almost like whoever implemented the idea doesnt know wtf they are doing.

dude ur clearly the minority here stfu

Wrong, most non-jsp players and most non-1k+ fg players like this change.
This change helps the poor and has 0 affect on the rich.
Buy infinity and nothing changes except for cold sorcs, but hey, cold sorcs are dogshit anyways and good for poor/cheap farmers.
Light sorcs always have and always will out-perform cold sorcs, and this change benefits all classes, even physical.

"hOwDoEsThIsBeNeFiTpHySiCaL?!?!?!" -easily by removing immunities to poison or any element of your choosing, you can now spec for on-hit damage, and ass-blast through the game with poison on-hit, fire/light/cold on-hit, or whatever you'd like.
Elemental on-hit + physical damage's %-based damage and leach makes physical exceptionally strong anyways.
But yes, physical dmg will still be the weakest, but they still get an overall net-buff.

This change is good, and opens up content for everyone. It's a net-buff for all classes and that's never a bad thing. That allows for a netbuff or increased difficulty content to be made (Terrorzones hello). They can now make terrorzones harder and improve the loot in them after this change and we'll have new content.

P.S I need to point out:

Infinity will reduce all monsters resistance down to 10% or lower, lowering them significantly to the point of negative resist now with some -resist on gear and/or facets, while cold sorcs don't benefit at all from infinity.

Class vs immunes(Pre-Charm):
Light sorc b4 charm = 115% - 15(75 actual resist) - 10 = 90% light resist on lightning immunes with infinity before - resistances on gear applied
Fire sorc b4 charm = 140% = 100 + 200 = unbreakable immunities, un-killable
Cold sorc b4 charm = 195% = 100 + 475 = 575 resist, unbreakable
Poison, same shit
Magic, no way to break it
Physical, no way to break it

Class vs immunes (Post Charm):
Light sorc w/charm = 95% = 95 - 85 = 10% = 10% light resist on lightning immunes with infinity before - resistances on gear applied
Fire sorc w/charm = 95% = 95 - 85 = 10% = 10% fire resist on fire immunes with infinity before - resistances on gear applied
Cold sorc w/charm = 95% = 95% - 195 = -100%
Poison Class w/charm = 95% = 95 - 85 = 10% = 10% Poison resist on Poison immunes with infinity before - resistances on gear applied
Magic, breakable now
Physical, breakable now

Light sorc now has (theoretically)
-35% Crescent Moon (runeword)
-25% (Griphons with facet)
-25% armor + 4 facets in shield
10% -85% = -75% lightning damage, or mobs take roughly 250% more damage. So that base 70k lightning? Yeah it'll do 200k damage.

Flickering flame alone puts enemies in the negative
Poison damage already reaches insane heights with damage boosters like trangs gloves, bramble, deaths web, etc

Cold sorcs will be the go-to "I'm a broke bitch" class, but I garuntee you poison necro's, lightning sorcs, fire sorcs, and all the other rich-classes will ascend to god-tier now.
A well built lightning sorc will now be able to solo ubers without a problem and might even reach the heights of 1-shotting uber bosses.

typical jsp response

how is this going to change the meta? games hardly gonna change

lightning sorc, hammerdin, necromancer, javazon etc

all the best dps dont have to worry about immunities as it is.

who cares if blizzard can bliz the odd cold immune that comes up lol

only rly benefits fire builds which will never be meta anyway

Who gives a shit about the “meta” on Diablo 2 lol
All these changes are pvm in a game that needed no changes.
It’s a remaster not a remake. I’ll give them credit if they can actually make a good change but it took them many many months to make even 1 change.
