im playing harbinger league, but i like literally have no idea what the end-game content in this game is.

ya just the maps, you can work on filling the atlas, or try to control it so you only get certain maps to drop.
i like to make builds that can potentially do all content, although I have yet to do so.
and each league has challenges to complete, you get mtx rewards for 12,24 and 36 and decorative totems for 19+ with more tiers each 3 you complete. Im going for 40/40 this season, usually only go for the 36 cause a lot of the rest are just grindy boring shit that costs a lot of currency to farm them. (like run 100 atziris, run 200 pale councils etc).
The end game on poe just doesnt hold my attention like d2 does, i usually stop playing the league after a month or so and just wait til next league.

Yeah I agree.. skill tree is crazy.. I play on my Xbox though I don't have a PC. In really digging this game though. I play as a Marauder! Having alot of fun with it though. I think it may be time to get me a new PC though.
