Yes with the upcoming update I can change attributes on blocks and spawners. I can also spawn entities or mobs directly. Mobs can have a set list of things they can drop, which is amazing.
Changing the tile data opens up a whole new world of redstone. I can animate the doors by spawning blocks frame per frame. Or even spawn entire structures, all 100% vanilla.

I don't play mindcraft, nor do i know how, but when you're finished and add spawns and such, I'd love to give it a try just to walk around / through it.
