a step down? it's all about dosage dude. acid trips are one of the most intense experiences a person can go through.
it also depends where you got it from. people sell research chems as acid all the time and they might have some similar effects but it is NOT the same thing.
if you really want to ensure you get some quality stuff, the darknet is your best bet.
it doesn't get anymore intense than ego death. psychedelics are the best type of drug imo.

edit: whatever you do just be careful. bad trips are literally hell.

I've always been into pills and Coke. A few times the pills have been laced with acid.

If you did acid and you "expected more" from it you didn't do lsd. It was a research chem. That doesn't make it necessarily a bad experience. I've done some RC and it was amazing.
Regardless if you want to have a good time I would up the dose for sure. Not all at once. Go into the trip looking forward to it. Make sure your environment is right for you.
Honestly, IMO it's actually hard to have a bad trip. I would say try Acid or RC and stay away from shrooms at least at first.
Anyways that shit can be one of the most memorable times of your life.
