Most small runners are fine, but the larger ones with entire IP ranges are easy to spot and blacklist for them, which is what they did.
Nothing about the game client or what the runners are doing is causing this, that I'm certain about.
And since it's just a small issue with proxies, people are finding new ranges and in a day or two it'll all be back.

What’s odd tho is in this thread and multiple others there’s a lot of reports of 100% legit ppl being realmed down for seemingly no reason. They play on a single cd key and their home ip only. Some said they did 20 min mf games and for realmed. That’s the one thing that’s not adding up about all this to me, is it a targeted thing? Or random? Why would it be effecting legit ppl who did nothing out of the ordinary?

Well that's the issue with going after ip ranges isn't it :/
It's imprecise and gets legit people caught in the crossfire.
This is the strict minimum they can do without hurting their bottom line.
If someone buys 8000 cdkeys to run with, that's money they won't turn down and the reason they don't disable cdkeys or accounts.
They only do things they know the most avid runners will get around.
Maybe the classic team even wants to do something about all of this but are being told by higher-ups not to.
Bit of a conspiracy, but seeing how activision runs things, I wouldn't be surprised.



Don't fool yourself into thinking they listen to random people. There's billions of ipv4's, they can never cover all of them this way, and they certainly don't need your help writing triage code to catch more.

I can only imagine them working unexpected overtime highly irritated trying to fix them
