To solo to 99 my sorcs always ran w/ shako ber'd, engima, and a good verdungo. Max vita obviously. It only hits 105 FCR which is good enough w/ high end gear.

So Full build:
Shako(ber)
Mara
Hoto
Enigma
Spirit Mon
2x Uped Magefists
10 FCR 20str 40life Type Rare Ring w/ Mana and Fire Res
40/15 verdungo
Any ring you want. BK or Wisp is fine. SoJ is nice for more mana.
65 life water walks.

You should only have to put minimal points into STR to equip the spirit monarch and you should have enough resistances to be capped with out any special charms.

The character should be 3K+ life w/ 41% damage reduction.

Note: This is for p1 games. Hardcore/softcore it doesn't matter. It's not 100% invincible against dolls though and it's faster to leave then try to have the merc kill them.

Eh on lightsorc I like Crsent Moon more than hoto

I’m currently playing Blizz with stormshield and guardian angel

Like 10k dmg and I can clear full p8 cs in 45 seconds or so

Lvling up like that rn, joining baalruns, clear cs, join baalrun on wave 2 or 1



But if you wanna stick to light I would use hoto stormshield yes

Maybe jam in shadow dancers also, they beat sands imo

If you do 28k dmg and have max resists and 117 fcr and keep dying the only advice I can give you is stop sucking (lol)

but for real though an um socketed vmagi with occy shako and a 35 spirit monarch and torch you should be able to live just fine. If you're really struggling get infinity but you shouldn't have to just to pvm

It's just not clearing that fast.

Of course I have infinity eth andy fr/ias and eth fort, merc is taken care off already

I am going to try to increase my dmg by 20% (with crescent moon) by swaping out phoenix for spirit, gg fcr rings for 2 sojs, and adding 3 skillers for full inventory to see if my clearing speed can approach that of an hdin.

Stormshield, Thundergods and Coa seems like your best bet for safety, otherwise if you want more damage then it's griffons Stormshield and dungos.

Don't even need CoA, shako offers 10% DR, +2, plenty of mana and life. You have 45% DMR, 2.4k life in my case, max block and mdr. I never came close to dying with storm on in P8 (teleporting to baal and clearing the tp for a safe landing with blizzard sorc).

There were many topics about this already, there is not too many "bad builds" but many suboptimal ones as I see
two advices:
1. if someone suggest to use energy shield for pvm just ignore everything he says about sorc builds
2. if someone suggests to use anything else than griffon on light sorc (if its not hc) just ignore his advices too

I have one lvl99 sorc already in d2r, levelled it up as lightning, but now it functions as fire sorc for pvp
As I see your build you don't seem to reach even 75 resist on hell? This seems to be big mistake, you need stacked resist for lower res (in cs) or conviction souls if you want to make sure that you don't die
I used the following for lvling: hoto, spirit, coh, verdungo, soj + bk, magefist, griffon, sandstorm, but can be aldurs as well, and mara
I had one point in fire wall vs light immuns, in cs the bosses often get light immunity
Depends on your goal, in pvp sorc enigma could be number one, for pvm its really not, its more like guardian angel/coh > shaft > enigma, not sure where to put viper it gives fcr so it should count as a different category.
Many ppl in hc go for max block guardian angel build with spirit, its really good in sc too.

Coa has 30 FHR with a potential 30 all res and 2 open sockets so you can socket it for however you like, all shako offers is 1 more skill with 130 or so non-boable life and mana.

Griffon's should be your BIS no matter what on softcore, I only brought it up as a way to stack light res with tgods.
