This bug isn't familiar to me at all, so I'm inclined to think it is something that Blizzard introduced within the last couple of years. Perhaps it's related to the changes to the item swap code?

In any case, your options seem limited. This would have been easy to fix in the past. Nearly any action that adds an item directly to your inventory should delete the item on the cursor, but that's not as easy to do as it once was.

Is it still possible to move specific distances with 0x5f while you have an item on cursor? If that's the case, you may be able to die.

found that bug last ladder by accident (after blizzard has applied several changes and fixes), and i've ruined one of my chars with it
so i don't know if this was possible before, probably not...?

i have actually missed another exception: if you have a gem / rune / jewel in your cursor "bugged", you can also get rid of it by socketing it into an item.
just tried in game to move with 0x5f (yes i've also sent 0x4b right after and observed it with another char to be 100% sure), didn't work.
0x5f seems blocked now once you have a busy state

So there were changes made on bnet just specifically the cursor then



It looks like it will only happen on bnet and single player should be no issue - their hotfixes made it possible







Even if that works I believe the OP wouldn't want to use any type of 3rd party prog.

Great to see this sparked some discussion. Yeah kinda limited on options here because it's the cube which you ofc you can't equip/socket/swap.

Such a "rare" bug who knows what weird fixes there is. Just throw some suggestions to try and i'll try em. Trying to pickup another cube?

I have also tried uninstalling and removing every trace of d2 from my computer and reinstalling. Blizzards latest response was:

I am really sorry to hear that those steps did not help, the test and files you have sent us look pretty good so the connection issue was most likely just a temporary network congestion.

As for the problem itself, unfortunately we can not really do anything from our side, as we have no way of modyfying anything from our side, hopefully however your character will synchronise properly with the server and you will be able to use your sorcerer again.

Idc what's worth it then, risk getting banned/flagged account for 1 char when ladder resets in 3 months anyway?

Ofc i could inform blizzard in advance that i'm trying this and that and then resolve it from there but i doubt they care.

hmm you could try
1) picking up a cube
2) opening stash with packets and trying to put cube there
3) goomshill says he has a way to make a bear attack someone in town, you could ask him if there's a way for the bear to knockback you out of town so that someone can kill you

Did you try create game with different difficult? From normal to hell?
Did you try to press “W” for switching equipment?
Did you try maybe use static trying press wp?
Did you try maybe stay long time in game for getting disconnected?
Did you try maybe stay on game and just switch off your internet?

Tell them that all they have to do to fix it is kill your char

They should be able to do that
