I recently graduated with a degree in EE and am working full time as an automation engineer. You know absolutely nothing about me rather than some silly posts but are assuming many things as well. Your arrogance is causing you to contradict yourself. It's a gaming forum man. Take a step back, breath deep, and relax.

All that schooling will only take you so far. It's a piece of paper to get you in the door. When it comes to an actual job, you won't be ready for what you're going to be asked to do.

While it seems you will be setting yourself up to have a good foundation, there's more to life. This is why I said "God Bless" and I can say that whether or not you believe. I'm asking my God to bless you. He doesn't have to be yours.

Have fun with your internet pride. It's less valuable than a full time McDonald's worker discussing quantum physics.

What's funny is that you're so elitist and pretentious when in fact you go to a tier 3 school (i.e., stanford=1, berkley=2, the rest=3).

P.S. You linked a grad school ranking, which doesn't really apply if you're in undgrad. This would be more relevant http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/rankings/engineering. Ignore if you're in  grad.

Currently have one year left of undergrad, but am enrolled in a program to get my masters degree in one year at UCSD after receiving my undergrad degree. So I will be in grad school next year at UCSD. I actually got accepted to Berkeley but decided to attend UCSD instead because of the horrendous grade deflation present at Berkeley in addition to the fact that I have lots of extended family in San Diego.

P.S. Your link is for engineering in general, which includes mechanical, environmental, industrial, materials, etc. which all have little to do with my field and dont say much about the merit of my university in comparison to the ones listed in your link.

Implying UCSD isnt a competitive school.
And honestly, I dont think you have any idea of the grade deflation that is taking place. Teachers at that school (and mine as well) are under pressure from administration not to give too many A's. If they do give too many A's, teachers are told that they are making the program look too easy and blemishing the university's reputation as a result. Students who are smart, smarter than me even, and put the work in are being given lower grades than they deserve as a result of these policies, which is unfair. It is all just a numbers game.

Not really. In most fields of engineering you do very little computer programming. I primarily work with circuits and programming. Fields like environmental engr, mechanical engr, and structural engr do very little of that.

 Grats on your first well thought out post in this thread. I am fully aware of schooling simply being a piece of paper that gets your foot in the door, and that when it comes to the actual job I won't be ready for what they will expect. However, we must prepare ourselves somehow for what they will expect. And attending a great university is a solid start IMO. Jokes and fun are all fine by me. But unprovoked thread crapping and direct insults are rude and uncalled for.

You have plenty of time to actually play yourself.

There is no progress being made and there is nothing to admire in that community.

Your sense of accomplish is complete shit.

I suggest spending time finding a hobby you're actually good at or at least one where you're actually participating in a hobby.

P.S. You're not helping anyone.

P.S.S You look like an idiot when you sit there and watch your computer play a game for you.

Take Care. God Bless.

There is a massive sense of self accomplishment when you're able to program/script something to run for you. Especially when you enjoy that, I used to bot a game (Tibia) using multiple accounts to help and play with one another to accomplish harder monsters/tasks.

Not to mention that its no easy task setting up/scripting a bot to run for you, it takes quite a bit of know how to be successful.

Being a successful botter led me to my career as a CNC programmer, I have zero formal training and I make more in a year than 2 year and fresh 4 year college graduates.

To bash on someone for having fun in their own way is pretty messed up. That's like yelling at a homeless person for being homeless; you're only yelling at yourself and you look stupid.

If you really have a need to troll, just kill yourself instead.

-Zac

PS I am married with children, my wife is very attractive, I'm 23 and I have a lifetime career. Being an asshole didn't get me that, being supportive and understanding of other peoples wants, goals and needs did. So go ahead and hate on, you're only hurting yourself.

PSS I have an AA in Psychology too.
