No, unfortunately it's just not possible to get mechanics to spawn with 2 sockets on ilvl below 26. Game mechanics. Sorry if that was unclear before.


Yes, just reroll with at least lvl40 char and it will stay at ilvl26 forever.

I have owned a large number of items with 2 os on them that were imbued by lvl 8-12 chars. ancient armors, bone shields, war axes, etc. all well below ilvl 26 methinks.

so i dont think that bit is accurate. unless im missing something. mechanics can always spawn 2 os imo.

Unless there are differences at imbuing regarding qlvl and ilvl, which I don't think there are (although I'm not 100% sure), this shouldn't be possible.
You can, however, imbue diadems at lvl8 because they have an inherent bonus level of 18 and can still get all affixes (and two socks).

i think u just have mechanics mod incorrect imo. mechanics can roll 1-2 sockets

Blankey a long running VLLD player did like 1,000 blade talons on lvl 8-10 chars before he got his 10ias/ed/eth-rep/2 os ones. same for ancient armor, bone shield, crown, etc. all would be low ilvl.

EASY TEST: go in game on like a lvl 15 and refresh vendor to find mechanics items with 2 os. act 2 easiest at drog imo

The items you've listed all can get 2 sockets with mechanics below ilvl26. This was an oversight on my part.
However, diadems can not.

why would diadems be different?

Because the base item is limited to 1 sox at ilvl26.
I had to reread some of my old sources because the info was so wired in my brain I didn't even remember why mechanics is limited to 1 sox below ilvl26.
Thats why I got confused and somehow thought it was affix dependent and not base item dependent.
But still, you want at least clvl40 so you won't get below ilvl26 and be sure to be able to spawn 2 sox with diadems when rerolling with pskulls.

wow TIL. i checked on amazon basin and you're 100% correct, circs, diadems, etc have socket max based on ilvl 26. strange ive never ran across this issue before.
