For me i see much better drops around 300mf imho its due to kill speed when u start taking off gear that hlps u wipe mobs in .5 seconds to 2.5 seconds then ur gona notice a big decrease in drop rates im not sure on the exact details but mfing boils down to a balance of mf and kill speed if u over load ur mf and handicap ur char then ur mf is worthless ive had chars with only nigma as mf find better/more useable items then chars with 600mf

Take this with a grain of salt im sure some1 will debate this but this is how it has worked to me....atleast since the days of gambling sojs while using a manld and nagel ^^

The game rolls for item quality in this order: Unique > set > rare > magical > normal.

You are seeing lots of blues because they would have just been normal base items, but you are not reducing the amount of unique, set or rare items as a result.

This is correct.

The only think that you are losing (apart of killing speed) with a lot of MF is rares, since at some point a lot of rares are dropping as a uniques and set (or failed set, that are magic items with doble dura, another reason to see more magic items), and of course a lot of bases.

But you will never get less uniques because you have more mf, and since uniques are still rare even with 1k+ mf you will also never get less sets.

If anything, pitzerkers are underrated. Keep grinding… you’ll eventually find something great.

I’m wearing about 250 mf, and close to 400 mf horking. It is true that the diminishing returns are very real past 250 mf, but set items has a gentler curve. For that reason, i think getting mf to the 400s is still worth it. Many of my great finds have been set items- tal’s armor, IK armors. They sold for quite a bit earlier in the season.

With your MF levels where they are currently, you are forcing a high % of items to be blue (magical) rather than rare or unique.

You want to be MFing in the 250-300 MF range. This gets you a good combo of rare and unique items. Not to mention you will be able to squeeze in much more offensive items into your build, thus increasing your kill speed.

And more monster death is more items. And more items mean more chances at good items.

Magic find works like this

Item drops

Item is checked of its Unique. If it Fails it checks if its Set. If the set fail checks then it goes to rare > Magic

Thus it is better to have more MF than less.

The only time more MF hurts you is if you have a slow kill speed.

not how it works

there is a slight drop off for very high %ages in rares, but more mf is better, if not saccing killspeed, which you don't on pitzerker, you can have easily 600% and still the same speed

if you want mass rares, just questbug some actboss

You are right. You are increasing the chance of a magical (blue) item at a higher rate than the chance to drop a rare or unique. Thus high levels of MF, most notably past the 300MF range, have a higher percentage of Magic items.

While you increase the chance of both, because you increase the chance of magic at a higher rate, you start to decrease the total amount of rare or uniques that drop.

Coupled with the fact you are lowering your kill speed, MF past the 250-300 range is very dumb.

You are so misinformed you should stop, chance for unique rolls before chance for magic

Thanks all for clarification. At least I was operating under the correct assumptions about mf it seems. More mf doesn't equal less uniques. I still think the pit sucks for me so far, I'm at about 400 runs now... Trav seems to have a better yield. Anyway, thanks!
