I am stuck at „checking versions“ as well. Last played Friday. Can somebody fill me in what happened? Read about a server crash somewhere

blizzard stopped support for Mac OS on Europe and US East.
You need to play on Windows or you will keep getting "checking versions"

I just removed this line from my host files: 5.42.181.18 europe.battle.net which I added few years ago in my host file... that time it was fix against "checking versions" issue

so I assume people who applied this fix in the past might experience same issues

this is the solution how to fix "connecting to fastest server" thing now

Is Blizzard serious? Without warning I have lost access to my account and all chars and items? It feels a bit weird…

well they posted somewhere last year that they stop support for Mac OS, though they still kept it online till now.
US West and Asia still works as they didnt change it there.

They changed their login servers couple of days ago for US East and Europe.
So if you have checking versions you either have a wrong IP set in your host file or you use Mac OS (this counts for Europe and US East server for now)

In that case: shame on me I guess. Didn‘t play in a long time and just recently returned, so probably missed those announcements. Still kinda sucks though

Interesting. West and Asia work fine for me, but Europe and East I get stuck at checking versions...
I play East and I've been stuck on checking versions on East for about 2-3 days now, and I use Mac, and here I was thinking I was temp ban.

You could try playing in windows mode. That works for me.

no your are not temp banned.
Bnet wont let you connect when you use Mac OS, so only option right now is to switch to the Windows version.
