They honestly could have fixed the dupes any time they wanted. All they have to do is scan each character file, log the item id, then reference it against all other scanned characters, then presto, chango, deleto.

RIP Diablo II, I bet quack, snow and all those who kept the dupe private to get 500kfg are pissed lol, or maybe not since they already have 500kfg, either way any item in d2 will be worth 1fg in a few weeks. maybe open b.net will start to thrive.. lol

items could even get worthless also, since when few godly rares or crafted woud be sold, then some retard, woud mass dupe that as well, and yeah, when everybody can now mass dupe their own items, why even bother trading for stuff anymore?

Here's an idea

Let d2 die. This put the final nail in the coffin. For god sale let it die with what dignity it has left

lets face it. D2 is dying fast now with the public dupe method released, playing b.net would just feel like you were playing single player but with a hero editor as well. so yeah, wheres the fun in that?

i'd rather play single player now and know that i worked hard to get some of the stuff i have found, makes it much more entertaining, than just lvl a char to lvl 85 then get all gear on him just right after.
i like the way you can upgrade your item-slots etc. thats why i moved to sp, also cus of the bots and hackers and all the shitty dupers.

It will just die out lets face it :( they may come up with a quick hotfix, but, it's doubtful now since they haven't touched the game for years. most people who worked on it don't even work for Blizzard now. What are they gunna do? hire them back? head hunt them all? hire a new team? a new patch might create more problems than good, will take a lot of testing and writing, may make more dupe methods available ect. They would have to put a lot of time and money into it to get it right without faults and they just won't. Just need to realise d2 for what it is now and either accept it, uninstall, play private or play single player.

It was a game made 14 years ago for dial up internet. It uses such a basic client server model that it's almost impossible to secure because there's too much trust in the client side. Also as far as I'm aware, their compiler is so incredibly old (won't even do it to c++ 98 from what I've read), it would be a big mission and probably need lots of re-writes and to update their model that they just won't do it, unless some hobbyists do it out of good nature in their free time, which they won't, and current blizzard employees are working on Legacy games now.
