So have I, and I've had the same amount poof when I do that, as when I don't.
Well, I suppose anything is possible so maybe I've just been lucky I guess. I'm not stubborn and am always in search of the truth even if that conflicts with what I currently believe. So let's come up with an agreed protocol on how to test this. Not sure why someone hasn't done this before actually hehe.
So, I could get 2 Bers (each on their own character) that are exact copies (all made from the same original). Then I could set-up a series of tests:
Test 1:Character A creates game.
Character B joins game.
Character A & B temp perm out.
Character A creates game to see if rune is still there. (IP recorded)
Character B does the same. (IP recorded to verify A and B aren't on same server)
IF Test 1 shows that both runes are there then it appears that temp perming was successful... assuming the runes really were clones of eachother which is where Test 2 comes into play.
Test 2:Character A creates game.
Character B joins game.
Character A & B do NOT perm out and just exit game.
Character A creates game to see if rune is still there.
Character B does the same.
IF Test 2 shows that 1 or both runes have "poofed" then we have verified that the runes were in fact clones of eachother.
