Well, their deaths were never registered, so I cant put them as "Dead" characters. If they died on registered duels their status would be changed. But as far as registered duels go, they didnt die in it. Its like if they died messing around sparring or something, those are not registered 1v1 legit duels, so they didnt die in a legit 1v1 registered duel.

A Kill and a Victory count as the same. The Kill is just an extra statistic. Like a Home-Run in baseball. If you hit a lone HR, it still counts as 1 run. I know this is not baseball, but my point is that the "Kill" stat is just an extra stat.
