SoH is basically the same difficulty to "obtain" as hellfire torch is... Granted you get 1 per person in the game, but you still do the same work for it basically.

So technically speaking, the SoH could be equivalent to the Annihilus / Hellfire, although I doubt it will be.....

It may just be to show that you beat ubers.. but thats just retarded. And why would it have level requirement on it if it does not do anything?

If in fact it reduces exp lost by a small %, and you can only carry 1 in your inventory, that would be a reasonable use for it.

Bliz has to keep releasing "something" to keep people interested in this old game, so I really think they will give it some use. Maybe nothing godly, but they will almost definitely give it "SOMETHING" in an upcomming patch 10 years from now.

BREAKING DIABLO 2 NEWS: Patch 1.12 to be announced! (by Tanith)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GamersVault has learned within the last 30 minutes that plans are being
made to announce the next Diablo II patch--1.12--next week with
installation to be on Tuesday, April 18. The patch, which is being called
"The Adria Patch", will add three quests to the somewhat barren Act 4 and
will reportedly include a great deal of new content.

Save those SoH's!
just got off the phone with Vault researcher Gabby Potanooey, who in turn
has been in contact with a highly placed source in Blizzard's office of
backstory development. He confirms that the new patch will "activate" the
Standard of Heroes and also introduce three new Act 4 quests, including one
that apparently involves a character from the original Diablo game. This
storyline for this quest will lead directly to the story for Diablo III:
The Siege of Heaven which reportedly is on the fast track for release later
this year.

Act 4: Bigger, Better.
According to distribution manager Ophelia Bunns, players will find Adria
the witch from the original "Diablo" game among the "trapped souls" seen
writhing on pillars and the ground in Act 4. She will give two of the three
additional quests in the act, and Tyrael will send the players to her
ruined home to retrieve an important item in the "Return to Tristram" quest
before they take on Diablo. The real trick will be to actually find Adria,
whose location will always be random. However, the original three Act 4
quests will remain the same.

Rest assured that we will continue to track developments as they occur, and
report them to you asap.

of course they don't mention anything about a ladder reset, so all the soh that people currently have would infact be useful. Me personally if ladder resets then everything I have becomes non-ladder and i tend to just delete them.

I should also add that this was posted on the 31st of march, day before april fools day.
