Now seriously: either you haven't noticed it's a PvM bowa or you don't know much about frost-strafezons (with all due respect). If the latter is true, here is a -free- lesson:

I posted here to show my new bow, not my other gear... but shortly put, I use items that best fit my build (I'm wearing Tarn too, not kiddin'). Keep in mind that my main attack is FA... Phys dmg (ie., dex) plays a secondary (albeit important) role. Resis, life, def, fhr, cbf, frw... that's for pussies or PvP bitches.


Let me tell u what i need and what i don't need:

- I need skills. +Skills itms allow me to deal almost 2k cd per arrow... nb, isn't it?. Moreover, +skills items boost my primary skills (FA, strafe, valky, decoy, pierce, evasives, critical) while keeping secondary skills (GA, MA, pene) at a decent level, thus saving precious hard skill points.

- I need mana... frostazons are manaholics: potting is lame, regen is slow... i leech (25% ml, from amu, rings, bow... and armor).

- I need to freeze-lock mobs, that's all I need IAS for: Sigons give me 30 ias, which allows me to reach 12 fpa with a goth (my previous main bow got no ias). 12 fpa FA freezes mobs in place till i kill them. More speed is cool, but can disrupt mana balance, which is not cool.

The 3 little Sigons give me 30 IAS, nice def, 10 str, some ar, nb resists, frw (20 enough), room for 16 pots... and nice MF too (100 with Tarn... I do get nice drops, my bows and rings/ammys proof of it). Death set + godly boots (plz, don't even mention Gobs) can't give me that.

- I don't need high resis (nor life): smart PvM bowas are rlly hard to hit. This means i don't need tri-resis boots or armor, nor life itms. I'm -14/31/-8/-34, and proud of it. I got 125 vita (600 life, enough to survive fokin dolls or cow king hits most of the times). Will probably do with 100 vita... idk. Love being weak... weakness = challenge = fun. I play for fun.
When soloing, i die approx once every 3 months (playing every day, killing all act bosses and most superuniques). 95% of my deaths come from phys dmg (fana+extra fast mob packs), 3% from elemental dmg (travi hydras + conv, oblivion caster packs at river, Dia firestorm). Lag often plays a role in that 98%. Remaining 2% due to stupidity (mine or teammate's).

- I don't need cbf... Hfd from ring is enough. Worst freeze dmg comes from death novas and, well, dead bosses can't kill u... Valky and decoy keep minions busy till i recover.

- I don't need fhr. I'm a ranger, they won't hit me (unless i'm stupid -that 2%- and let them corner me)

- I don't need gz dex... We are not dexazons, we use phys dmg just to leech mana and kill immunes. 300-350 dex enough (250-650 strafe dmg). However, I'll probably build a new bowa to use that -30 req affix (got a 20 str amu, only need to 'waste' 3 points on str to keep my silks).


Imho, Silks+Sigons lot better than Twitch+Death or whatever combo u can assemble. Tarn lot better than life/stats helms, Dusk, Biggins, 3 PE helms or even Howl (i want them packed, not running/scattered... FA is AoE attack, u know; moreover, i must pierce). And I love my bowa's 'simplicity': 7/9 itms are set-unique (or even all 9, when using Rogue Bow and Etlich -but, tbh, i often switch SoJs for rare rings when soloing).

That said, I'm always open to suggestions... if u think i can use better gear in my PvM frost-strafer, just say so.

I enjoyed reading it although I question the worth of silks and would probably opt for that -cold bow for a magezon and use this one on a "real" bowa ^^

Also I would use death sash n glove and either twitch or a 4 topaz armor.
