They can;t patch bots, they can find who bots and ban them pretty easily, but it would require an amount of effort and $ blizzard isn't willing to put on this game

They would need a team of people working/banning people constantly..

What do you mean? Your single players got deleted? I'm pretty sure they moved the file location if you issue is just simply that you don't see them where they used to be.

No, the characters themselves are there, but the files where those characters were stored are now gone. Used to be there was a .\Saves\ folder that had a few files named with the character's name, now the entire folder is gone.
