Having life tap is considered BM in PvP but then again people complain about the venom proc too on Grief, Last Wish’s only real purpose is for boss (uber）killing and is mediocre on even mobs, versus value it’s a bad choice as you can kill ubers perfectly fine too with a Grief.

smiters have no problems reaching 60-100 cb without lw. using lw you get close to 0 smite dmg once cb starts taking smaller chunks. grief just kills a lot quicker unless you're using absurd gear on your smiter
