I typically convert my cold sorc's (early ladder) to light (3-4 weeks into ladder) and the build that works best for me is full Tals set. Provides a ton of def/mf stats without breaking the bank. Most expense you'll have after that are on your merc and obtaining a cta/torch/Light facets

Coh / griffons / eschuta are obviously great as well but its rly not that much off from full tals (offensive wise)

Yeah orb/hydra is what I’m starting the light with some gear.

@ OP Have u ever considered trying guardian angel? It's sort of a meme build, but if u get to 90 allres nothing should kill you with a good ES. Maybe a ral inside to make up for the missing fire res, if you use spirit.

Energy shield takes damage before resistances so having 90 all res is pretty worthless.

Unless of course you are using that armor to get higher block chance and you are also going for max block, then yeah I would agree, having an extra added buffer to taking damage on top of energy shield would be worthy.
