shael is a level 29 rune
your wep is level 30 req

your req will stay at level 30 because you go with the higher of the two level reqs

if you put in a dol rune, which is level 31, your wep is now level 31 req. you take the higher of the two reqs when socketing an item between the base level req of item and level req of what is being put in the item.

that should clear this up for you

you would think it would, but you havent made the lvl req change to 30+ from soceting it with a jewel, wich anybody who knows what there talking about could do.

your question was what happens if you put a shael in it, i just answered that. You also asked what happens if you put a pruby in, which has a level 18 req. If you read what I wrote, you would know that has the same result as if you put in the shael, the wep would still have a level 30 req if you put in any gem or rune shael or lower. If you put in a jewel with a level 31 req or higher, the wep would then have the level req of the jewel. It's all the same concept, you take the higher of two level reqs of what you are putting in the socket vs the level req of the base being socketed.

ok I guess you are just trying to run your post count up because I answered all of your questions in this thread at this point, including:

1. can you give me an example of what happens when you socket
2. what happens if I put in a ruby
3. what happens if I put in a shael
4. how could the level req go over 30 with a jewel in it

the question is, "why would putting a sheal clvl req 29, into my axe clvl 30, cause the clvl of the axe to change to 30+req."

Because you upped the item, and that add 5 (or 7, don't remember) levels to the highest level req which is 29 from shael.

when you up an item it changes to the lvl req of the new item period.
