its eth upped headstriker. Pretty hard to beat that, since A5 mercs get 2x 1H base damage and 3x 1H +min/max damage

a 415 ebotd cb has 668 avg damage / -55 speed, whereas eth upped headstriker can hit 539 avg damage / -15 speed / 100% deadly strike.
otherwise lawbringer phase blade is a practical A5 merc build for many chaos chars

a perfect eth grief of destruction colossus sword would have 557 avg damage / 20% ds / 20% cb, whereas a perfect eth upped 40/15 headstriker would have 539 avg damage / 100% ds
even an eth upped 40/15 max coldsteel eye hitting at 9 fpa compares favorable to a grief of any type. The +damage bonus on grief does not get multiplied by the 2x/3x bonuses of 1H damage like headstriker

its hard to top a build of;
eth upped headstriker (40/15 ias) + fortitude + jewelers diadem of the lamprey (120/45 ias). That hits 11 fpa bash/stun (5.5 normal), 539 weapon damage, 100% ds, 8% leech, 435% ED from items. And with all the high defense / max resists of fortitude.

for pvm lawbringer in crystal sword have fastest attack^^
for pvp death in eth Collossus Sword + guiliamce and eth forty this setup on hdin or necromancer is most dmg per one hit merc

Hey so if say grief of destruction was made out of a 1 hander weapon then wouldnt it apply more dmg?

I'm also looking at Death of Destruction in a one hander, this has really high deadly strike.

no. The formula for A5 merc damage applies 1x damage for all types of 2 hand damages, 1x for +damage like on grief, 2x for base 1H damage and 3x for +min/max 1H damage
grief would still be just +400 base damage on a 1 handed weapon, not +1200 like +400-400 min/max damage would do.

there is no 5-6 socket 1 hand elite swords other than phase blades, so death is not a consideration. You can't have ethereal death conquest sword since it caps out at 4 sockets.

hand of justice eth conquest sword has 600 damage / -33 aspd / 20% ds on top of ITD, 7% ll, blind & freeze.
oath has 614 / -50 aspd and 30% chance to cast bs which is kind of neat but useless
phoenix has 695 / 0 aspd with 20% ds and redemption aura, ITD, fire absorb, firestorm
and headstriker has 539 / -15 / 100% ds

as said, headstriker wins in pure damage. Others can have nice side effects.
a 450% ed / +20 max / 40% ias / 2 socket / 5% amp or 7% ll eth rare conquest sword with 2x lo could hypothetically have as much as 773 damage / -40 speed / 40% ds. That probably beats headstriker. but doesn't exist.

I'm for sure trying to find the #1 for sure #1 a5 merc sword, so I'm looking at Oath and destruction death hybrids.

Looking for everyones opinions is Eth Uped Headstriker the #1 A5 merc weapon?

Reason being that a5 merc gains 3x dmg from 1h sword and only 1x from 2h.
