I dont know about this, correct me if i'm wrong, rolleyes.gif , but i think it does a check on the treasure class of items, like..

it checks for uniques, then sets, then rares, then magic, and normal items. That's how i THINK it works, so if that's the case, wouldn't more MF mean better chances for uniques?

QUOTE (Dieselonia @ Feb 13 2003, 08:35 AM)

.... too much text just let u know i quote to u ... biggrin.gif

Ur Right..

If its Possible to Kill with 1200% Mf @ same speed like 300% Mf
its done..

only 1 thing is not clear for me..

Lets get this step by step..

Pindle dies..
Bnet gens random Items based on generation Chance(no Mf added)
Bnet Checks items which can get ubber and which not (Runes , Gold except GF%)
Bnet calcs up..
so here is my problem..
does it look upward?
chance for 1200% Magic Item faild -> next check
chance for 494% Rare Item faild-> next
until som item hits in..
or does it look backward or just gets the "best" or Random or WHAT!!!?
Why does it drop WF and not a RARE Hydrabow..

unique->rare->magic->normal
normal->magic->rare->unique

or how?!

im absolutly shure no1 understands what i try to tell...

i think i should not think so much about it only confuses me even more..

I think the check is done from unique to magic in a decreasing fashion.

This is why some items can spawn as rare with triple durability because this is supposed to be a unique hit but the item didn't exist.

Ya, it goes in decreasing fashion. Read reaky's post, he explains EXACTLY how it works. And it does NOT EVER go back up, it will keep going down thel ist till it finds an item it can drop with the default being Rare if you roll for a unique or set on an item that has not SET or UNIQUE version.

An item with double durability is a failed set item. An item with triple durability is a failed unique.

When I say failed, either a unique / set version doesnt exist, or the monster cant drop it.

Hell diablo for example CAN drop a Hydra Bow, but can NOT drop windforce - so if you get a triple dur hydra bow from big D, you know it was supposed to be a WF, but he just cant drop it.

That's right. I just remembered this info (was searching inside my brain for this wacko.gif).

But what is the reason some monsters cannot drop unique version of certain items ? is this caused by mlvl<qlvl ?

I know I have gotten some rare talons, which should have been bartucs claws, and they were 3x dur, trying to find out why a monster would be able to drop the base item, and not the unique / set, but I could just be remembering wrong hehe. If I find a reason Ill post it.

QUOTE
This depends on the item types of course, since there are so many items that have no Unique or Set version, so if you want an accurate accounting, you need to check for 3x durability rares (failed Uniques) and 2x durability magicals (failed Sets).

This is the given order for applying MF

Unique > Set > Rare > Magical > Superior > Normal > Low Quality

blink.gif Ok here is the simplist way blizz figures what items to drop. Mf % is a big bru-ha-ha, its all bull. I propose the "The Screw Factor." Blizz has a big counter that counts how many days you've been playing and how frequently. It then keeps tabs and notices that your not playing that much lately so your chances of being screwed out of item such as wf and valors. So anyways its droping and you finally get below what is needed for your chances to get that weapon. Think of it this way you need the 5-G ball to win at Bingo and finally get your money back that you been putting into social security that all the blow-hole old women come and spend at the local VFW, well it turns out the 5-G wasnt even put in roll cage full of balls. Thus you being screwed over. Well this is what blizzard does, they sometimes forget to put the windforce in your roll cage thus screwing you over and the more you play the less balls to chose from. So just when your about to quit and throw Diablo in the storage shelf of your computer desk, they drop the hook, like moths to the flame, your back going hard at, one vicious screw cycle after another.

no offense but... THATS THE MOST RIDICULOUS THING I'VE EVER HEARD!!
do you think blizzard has the resources to keep 'tabs' on us?
and how in the world do they know when we are going to toss the box on the shelf and quit?
do they spy on us?

anyways just thought i would come and say my 2 cents, and officially declaring how stupid your notion is about MF
ahh finally got that out of my system evil.gif
thanks
