I believe it is now classified as Abandonware/Freeware and can be played free on browser (no emulator required, not sure how the saving system works). I found the biggest cheese was the health-mana glitch causing the negative to rollover. A lot of the enemies hit pretty hard in it like the manticores pretty much making caster builds the best in order to distance yourself but still requiring good melee setup for those times you'd try resting to recover and get g-banged halfway through your sleep.
Definitely a good time like diablo and wizardry series. Although as bad as the manticores were I still believe diablo 1 holds the record for most annoying enemy with those damn black deaths and perma health loss.
yes you can play it in browser dosbox emulators but i finagled some way to run it locally on a linux laptop running windows 3.1 via dosbox
manticores are a real headache! Especially when you're trying to rest and you get hit along the way.
