They listen to gossip, the false and hateful comments of people who rage in groups when all the signs point to their gossip being false and in bad faith... people who are therefore far from reality and paranoid...

Some people listen to gossip while keeping in mind that gossip is often false. Social media is proof of this.
They are intelligent people who value credibility and who enjoy progressing, and they don't experience frustration with unrealistic thinking. Moreover, they see people as they are with their own eyes and their own brains. Their intelligence keeps them from paranoia...

You know if you explained things reasonably like this instead of being so in-your-face boastful people would move toward treating you better. You did something bad, paid it off which is great, but a better move (especially for business) is to be more humble going forward so people don’t feel bad about themselves buying from you. But I agree one is the captain of their own ship.
