Cv is higher damage output and with Andy can have same speed as thresher. Only real reason for thresh would be to hold it sooner and still have max attack speed

One of thersher's BP is 75: Andy (20+15ias jewel) + Treachery (45)

You need 147 IAS with CV

Every weapon has an attack speed value. They range from 20 (slowest) to -60 (demon crossbow; extremely fast).
It's a bit misleading, cause you might think a 20 attackspeed weapon with 20% ias on the gear may end up in 0 attackspeed - but this is far from the truth.
Just remember that the same attackspeed value on 2 different weapons do have the exact same breakpoints; Weapon type (swords, axes, spears etc.) does not matter

For the first 2 questions i highly recommend you look up some attackspeed calculator, so that you can check your desired breakpoints for every type of weapon and every type of situation. Remember to look it up for the correct class; In your case: A2 merc.
For example: What are the breakpoints while your merc is affected by a holy freeze aura, or while being decrepified? How does a level x fana aura affect the attack speed, etc.

edit: thresher has a range of 2, cv has a range of 3. The difference between 2 and 3 are definetely notable, just like the change from 4 to 5. The difference between 3 and 4 is quite small, though.

Is that true? I didn't ever pay attention to merc wep range, cause i always used eni on non sorc chars with them.
I noticed it when using ww barb, and i had an imagine in my head that showed the difference between range 2 and range 3 (was too lazy to search for it).

What you say makes sense, since merc eq always looks the same on the outside.
