wow been playing this game since my childhood and i am now just learning this means you GAIN mana. i always thought it meant it deducted mana based on dmg, similar to energy shield.

lolol.

good day all!

Wait a minute. Does it mean u will gain mana when u get it? So where is the downside? Where is the point to not play with energyshield as a sorc then?

dgtm is calculated from the damage you take to your life. so each time you get hit, you take full damage but also gain a little bit of mana. this means you do NOT reduce the damage, just a little bit of bonus mana.
it does not work well with ES, since the damage you take after ES and resists and integer reductions is almost insignificantly small

EDIT: of course it always is a benefit, but outside of maybe LLD (and maybe Melee leagues?) it is not worth investing in...

I saw a video about a Sorc with alot of Mana and almost 100% „Damage taken goes to Mana“? It was called the immortal sorc. He couldnt barely die with this build? Maybe i need to watch again and read something about that mechanic. Anyways ive never played with ES and never missed something.

if you want a good take on immortal sorc, watch Cooley's video on youtube ;) might not be full perfect gear, but very informative on the concept. an immortal sorc can't make use of dgtm because they are designed to not take damage

Instead of damage goes to mana, should have been. Damage taken coverts to mana%.

Dtm does virtually nothing.

The immortal sorc abuses energy shield along with iDR (integer DR) and MDR (magic damage reduction).

Cooleys immortal build is a terrible way to build your immortal sorc.

Generally speaking, he never provides good info.
