What is your favorite experience or memory from being a new player in D2:LoD? At what point did you learn to "play the game" so to speak? Did you partake in the white rings and hacking windforce era of PvP?

There are lots of posts containing (sometimes rightful) negativity about the market and d2r. Just trying to have a light, chill throwback discussion.

Started on d2 in 1999. I remember buying LOD when it was released, such a good memory of playing with no guides/Jsp/ etc

a nefarious mexican in the cartel gave me a free burned disk while i was bored after math class, soon my math proofs became d2 iconography.

Brother's friend played D2 and I was watching, it back in 2002. 4 years later my parents bought a computer, and I bought warcraft III box, Blizzard would give you free starcraft + diablo II.

had a big break for years, but i can remember when i first played this game, lightning mastery used to lower the mana costs of spells instead of increasing the dmg... maybe anyone can tell me what patch/year that was?

started with Diablo 1 when i was 8 or 9. When Diablo 2 released in 2000, it was an amazing time (LOD wasnt even out til 2001 of June) the original classic game where Gull dagger was rare LOL. Then LOD was released in 2001 and so much happened, on west with the trade hack program/dupe with my brother made everything amazing. Even LLD on west was fucking epic due to all the wrings, white gloves, and imports. the Hex sc's 90str/90dex/90vita, Quark bow and armor, Bugged shako, wiz spike gloves, occy rings, AO ITH swords, ITH armor runeword but with 3 open sockets available. Havoc jewels on east in 2 open socket VGaze, Zephry bow i think it was called, lots and lots of good memories back then, TS/Orb sorcs ruled the moor, buriza zons everywhere... miss you old d2.

cant forget those zons on west too. EPIC JAB DUELZ

yeaaahhhh, i remember when you had to iso/ft, would go to the trading channel and write all the items ft, highlighted copy, and repeat text and spam it on the channels, mean awhile keeping an eye out for anything you might need as the channels used to scroll pretty fast since it was alot of people trading.

best part of the pvp back then was melee, using archons 160/60 with 24fhr or life lol, getting as much life leech as you can since it used to work in pvp back then.

was selling items to few guys in school and either earned cash or got lunch in exchange.

friend found Soj once, asked me if it's good and I said it's obviously trash cos level req is so small. all good rings have higher lvl req. he tossed the soj then, so i picked it up and traded it for some goodies like IST runes or whatever the currency was back then
